America’s favorite SUV is getting a full reboot. For eight consecutive years, the Toyota RAV4 has held the crown as the best-selling SUV in the United States—and in 2024, it became the top-selling vehicle overall.

Now, Toyota is ushering in a new era with the fully redesigned 2026 RAV4, kicking off the model’s sixth generation with sharper styling, improved technology, and electrified performance across the lineup. Among the standout models is the adventurous Woodland trim, designed for those who want comfort on the road and confidence off the beaten path.

The 2026 RAV4 lineup is divided into three distinct themes: the Core grades (LE, XLE, Limited), the rugged Woodland edition, and the sporty GR Sport. Rather than just visual packages, these trims target different kinds of drivers—from commuters to weekend adventurers.

Every 2026 RAV4 is electrified, offered exclusively with hybrid or plug-in hybrid powertrains. The Woodland Edition, available in both HEV and PHEV configurations, comes standard with all-wheel drive, making it the ideal choice for drivers who demand capability in all conditions.

The new Woodland trim takes Toyota’s off-road legacy seriously. It sits higher off the ground with 8.5 inches of clearance, features black exterior cladding and door handles, and rides on 18-inch all-terrain tires.

The hammerhead-inspired front end integrates a split grille with Rigid Industries LED driving lights, while active front spats automatically adjust for aerodynamics or off-road clearance depending on speed.

A raised roof rack with crossbars, Class II towing package, and a 1¼-inch activity mount make it ready for everything from mountain bikes to camping gear. A glass roof is standard, bringing more light and a premium feel to the cabin.

Under the hood, the 2026 RAV4 Woodland blends efficiency and performance. The hybrid model pairs a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with electric motors to deliver 236 horsepower in AWD form, while the plug-in hybrid variant increases output to 324 horsepower and delivers up to 52 miles of all-electric range.

Front-wheel-drive models make 226 horsepower and achieve up to 44 MPG combined. With an available towing capacity of 3,500 pounds for AWD models, the Woodland trim proves that efficiency and utility can coexist. Toyota’s new Cooperative Steering Driving Force Control (CSDFC) system further enhances handling by synchronizing pitch and roll for a more stable and confident drive.

Inside, the Woodland grade combines durability with modern design. Soft-touch materials, perforated panels, and red-orange accent stitching create a sporty yet rugged environment. Standard Woodland-branded all-weather mats protect the cabin from mud and debris.

The cargo area offers 37.6 cubic feet of storage behind the second row, expanding to nearly 70 cubic feet when the seats are folded flat, ensuring plenty of room for weekend gear or family adventures.

Technology takes a major step forward for 2026. The new RAV4 features a fully digital 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a standard 10.5-inch infotainment touchscreen, with a larger 12.9-inch unit available on higher trims.

The latest Toyota Audio Multimedia system introduces customizable widgets, dual wireless charging pads, and AT&T 5G connectivity. Voice control has been expanded with new “Hey Toyota” functions, while wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto remain standard. The optional nine-speaker JBL Premium Audio system delivers crisp, powerful sound, turning every drive into an experience.

Safety remains at the core of Toyota’s design philosophy. Every 2026 RAV4 includes Toyota Safety Sense 4.0, featuring an enhanced suite of driver-assistance technologies.

A 3D Panoramic View Monitor and available Advanced Park system further aid in maneuvering and parking. Toyota continues to back its vehicles with strong warranties, including a 36-month/36,000-mile basic coverage, a 60-month/60,000-mile powertrain warranty, and hybrid system coverage for eight years or 100,000 miles. Every RAV4 also includes ToyotaCare, covering maintenance for two years or 25,000 miles and 24-hour roadside assistance for two years.

With a starting price in the low $30,000s, the 2026 Toyota RAV4 Woodland competes directly with the Honda CR-V, Mazda CX-50, Ford Bronco Sport, Hyundai Tucson, Kia Sportage, and Subaru Forester. But few can match its combination of hybrid efficiency, trail-ready durability, and everyday comfort.

For 2026, Toyota has refined America’s best-selling SUV into something even more versatile—an electrified, adventure-ready machine that proves why the RAV4 remains the go-to choice for millions of drivers.
