Rep. Van Orden to Newsmax: US Could Send Troops to Gaza

By    |   Wednesday, 05 February 2025 11:43 AM EST

Rep. Derrick Van Orden, R-Wis., told Newsmax on Wednesday that the United States could send troops to the Gaza Strip to enforce President Donald Trump's vow to "take over" the region, saying it would "bring peace through strength."

During a press conference alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday, President Donald Trump stirred controversy by saying the U.S. "will take over the Gaza Strip" and "clean out that whole thing," referring to the removal of Palestinians.

Van Orden said on "National Report" that the U.S. "will do everything we can as a nation to bring peace through strength in the Middle East. And if that means taking a different approach to the Gaza Strip and having the United States military there, then that's exactly what that means."

Van Orden said U.S. "adversaries around the world better understand nothing is off the table when it comes to Donald Trump's leadership around the world, period."

Van Orden added that he also "wholeheartedly agree[s]" with Elon Musk's decision to shutter the U.S. Agency for International Development, calling it "a den of vipers."

Musk is heading the new Department of Government Efficiency, an advisory commission.
