Pete King to Newsmax: Trump, Not Musk or Anyone Else, 'Is the Boss'

By    |   Sunday, 22 December 2024 12:16 PM EST

Former Rep. Pete King Sunday dismissed complaints from Democrats about tech billionaire Elon Musk's involvement with President-elect Donald Trump's incoming administration, reminding Newsmax viewers that "Trump is the boss."

"If you know anything about Donald Trump, like him or not, support him or not, he is the boss," the New York Republican said on Newsmax's "Wake Up America Weekend." "Nobody, nobody is going to get in his way."

Questions about Musk gained steam last week after House Republicans scrapped the first version of a continuing resolution to keep the government open after an outcry from Musk through his social media platform, X.

Musk heads Trump's Department of Government Efficiency with fellow billionaire Vivek Ramaswamy and has been floated by Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., to replace House Speaker Mike Johnson.

But King insisted that nobody but Trump will call the shots.

"I can tell you, if there's one person who has the final word more than any of those presidents, it's Donald Trump," said King. "The media can play games. Listen, Trump may take advice from us. He may take it from [JD] Vance, he may take it from others."

But at the end of the day, "that is the most definitive thing I can say about Donald Trump — he is the boss."

King also discussed a report from The Wall Street Journal detailing how the White House shielded President Joe Biden's issues from the public.

"It's hard to even blame him," said King. "I blame his wife. I blame the vice president, and I also blame the media for allowing this to go on in plain sight. I mean, it was obvious to people watching on television, people following Joe Biden to know that there was something seriously wrong with him."

The "real scandal," he said, was the fact that Vice President Kamala Harris "was silent" and first lady Jill Biden "encouraged him," said King.

"We had a commander in chief who was unable to command, and it led to disastrous results in Afghanistan and any other number of instances around the world," said King. "Again, I go back to the fact that Russia and China did nothing against our interests, and Donald Trump was the president.

"No one was attacking Israel when Donald Trump was the president. All of this happened under Joe Biden. And this, to me, is a shameful example of abuse by the American media."
