Fire Erupts at Iconic NYC Holiday Market

By    |   Friday, 27 December 2024 01:41 PM EST

Fire erupted at the iconic Bryant Park holiday market in Manhattan on Friday morning, burning multiple booths and sending plumes of smoke above the city skyline.

The fire broke out at roughly 9:20 a.m. ET and was under control by 10, fire officials told multiple media outlets. No injuries were reported.

The New York Post reported it started as a trash fire and spread to the shed. Fire officials are investigating the cause.

"We are grateful for the FDNY's quick response to the incident that occurred earlier today," a Bryant Park spokesperson said in a statement. "The Rink and The Lodge are currently open. Most of The Holiday Shops have reopened, and we expect all the Holiday Shops that were not affected by the fire to reopen later today."

Roughly 4 million people annually visit the market, officially called Winter Village at Bryant Park. The market runs through Jan. 5.
