A third-party website reportedly has published a list of federal health workers being targeted on a "DEI Watch List."
A government worker told NBC News that the website is being circulated on social media and among multiple private group chats of federal health workers across agencies.
The website has published photos, names, and public information of a number of federal workers, mostly Black employees primarily within the Department of Health and Human Services.
The employees have been accused of committing "offenses" that include working on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, donating to Democrats, and using pronouns in their bios.
"This is a scare tactic to try to intimidate people who are trying to do their work and do it admirably," Dr. Georges Benjamin, executive director of the American Public Health Association, told the outlet.
"It's clear racism."
One federal employee said a co-worker sent the website link on social media.
"It's unnerving," the person told NBC News. "My name and my picture is there, and in 2025, it's very simple to Google and look up someone's home address and all kinds of things that potentially put me at risk."
"I don't know what the intention of the list is for. It's just kind of a scary place to be."
After the website listed photos of employees and linked to further information under the headline "Targets," the headline on each page was changed to "Dossiers" on Tuesday night.
The website said the list was supplied by the American Accountability Foundation.
Employees at several federal agencies Friday were ordered to remove pronouns from their email signatures after President Donald Trump signed executive orders aiming to remove DEI programs from the federal government.
Among his first actions after taking office, Trump issued executive orders slashing DEI programs and proclaiming that the U.S. federal government will recognize only two sexes, male and female.
The president then escalated his plan to eliminate DEI programs by lobbying the private sector to join the initiative, instructing aviation officials to review diversity hires, and alerting employees of DEI government offices and programs they would be placed on paid leave.
