Kansas City Chiefs Stars Praise Trump Appearance at Super Bowl

Two of the Kansas City Chiefs' star players said they were honored and impressed that President Donald Trump will attend this year's Super Bowl, in which the Chiefs play the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans.

Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce told reporters on Wednesday that it's "a great honor" to play in a game watched by the sitting president.

Kelce said during a press conference, "No matter who the president is, I know I'm excited because it's the biggest game of my life, you know, and having the president there, you know, it's the best country in the world. So, that'd be pretty cool."

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes added, "It's always cool to be able to play in front of a sitting president, someone that is in a top position in our country."

Trump has not said which team he is supporting in this year's Super Bowl but did congratulate the Chiefs after their victory in the AFC Championship game against the Buffalo Bills while saying nothing when the Eagles beat the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship game.

"What a GREAT Team, Coach, Quarterback, and virtually everything else, including those fantastic FANS, that voted for me (MAGA!) in record numbers," Trump said in a statement on social media.

When asked earlier this week who he thought would win on Sunday, Trump replied, "I don't want to say, but there's a certain quarterback that seems to be a pretty good winner."

Mahomes said on Wednesday that he "didn't see that clip, but obviously, it's cool to hear that he's seen me play football and respects the game that I play."
