Self-driving technology companies are hopeful the “golden age of travel” promised by President-elect Donald Trump includes the widespread deployment of autonomous vehicles.
There are safety concerns that are slowing the autonomous vehicle adoption. Despite advancements in driverless technology, many consumers remain skeptical of fully autonomous vehicles due to safety concerns and lack of familiarity.
More than half (52%) of U.S. respondents are uneasy about robotaxi services operating in their areas. Building consumer trust will likely require transparency, education, and visible demonstrations of safety and reliability.
For the automotive industry, this could mean investing in consumer education and more robust safety features to help alleviate concerns and foster acceptance of autonomous vehicles.
