G7 foreign ministers expressed concern Tuesday about Chinese trade practices which they said were leading to harmful overcapacity and market distortions.

In a draft statement at the end of a two-day meeting, they called on China to refrain from adopting export control measures, particularly on critical minerals, that could lead to significant supply chain disruptions.

They also said that maintaining peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait was vital for international security.
