People keep asking why I care that Johnny Weir dressed in an effeminate outfit designed to normalize the LGBTQ agenda while commentating for the Woke Olympics Closing Ceremony.
After all, they argue, what does it matter to you? How are you harmed by how he chooses to express himself? It’s his truth.
Questions like this are evidence of a total lack of awareness how relativism has pervaded our common definition of reality—and undermined it.
Without accurate definitions, we lose all perception of where one thing ends and another begins.
But the leftist Marxists purposefully want everything fluid.
From biology to philosophy to truth itself, nothing has inherent limits, according to the new “science,” because reality exists only as the individual perceives it.
Live your best life and celebrate whatever world you choose to recognize, they argue.
But this doesn’t work well in actual reality.
For example, over the past few years, the term “impeachment” has lost any real meaning tied to the language of the Constitution, having been forfeited on the field of political gamesmanship.
But the reason for this isn’t only because it’s been weaponized as a political tool; it’s much deeper than that.
Impeachment, like any other term within the Constitution, must be discreetly defined, otherwise it is absolutely useless.
Things are defined by their limitations. Without margins, contours, or parameters, there is not a fixed term, value, entity, or expression.
The same is true for law; including, of course, the U.S. Constitution.
When the founders discuss “limited” government, they meant this in the most straightforward definition: a legitimate government is defined by its limitations.
Justice Scalia opined that the greatest check on our government is the separation of powers. He implicitly presumed those powers to be limited and rationally defined.
Otherwise, why would three branches of abject tyranny be any better than one consolidated tyrant?
The core problem with relativism as applied to any philosophical discussion is that there is no cognizably defined limit.
This has dramatic implications to moral ethic and an expression of truth. The basic goal of leftism is to destroy limitations and therefore destroy moral value in every area of human existence.
Abortion seeks to destroy the biologically fixed definition of human life—when it begins and when it ends—in favor of unlimited “choice.”
Gender fluidity and human sexuality are now supposedly limitless and not tied to a discernible standard of biology.
Math without a quantifiable metric leaves expressions without solutions. Imagine if currency had no enforced transactional limitation.
Everyone would be suddenly without any wealth; the system would be entirely corrupted. These things are all inextricably intertwined because of their common ideology of relativism that seeks to destroy all limitations in every definition.
The primary reason tyranny is evil is because it has no limits. If the Constitution is so fluid that it has no parameters (concretely predetermined differences between “constitutional” versus “unconstitutional”), it cannot have any real value because it is not actually an expression of law, and therefore has no authority to enforce limitations on government actions.
The same is true even for Christianity. Many so-called “Christians” claim a relativistic view, which suggests that there are no limitations for what is within true orthodoxy and what is heresy.
Without limitations, there is no moral ethic or distinguishing between Christian and non-Christian. Truth necessarily is an exclusive term.
Truth is by definition limited in expression; exclusive of falsity.
The same way that leftists would argue impeachment has no outer margins, many pastors have argued that Christianity has no enforceable standards.
Religion accepts everyone and everything, which is to say, it is meaningless and has no real quantifiable value.
This is a grossly false view of freedom and, more fundamentally, truth.
The reason that conservatives advocate for limits is because limits are a necessary foundation to a well-ordered society and a fixed point of reference is essential for navigating actual reality.
This is the leftists end game: destroy all value and moral virtue through destroying any limitations. Where everything is arbitrary, tyranny thrives.
Relativism is indeed destroying us.
If we cannot define basic value, including genuine freedom, justice, and morality, we are left to the whim of limitless tyrants.
We have to get back to the reality that truth is not relative and requires limitations.
