Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., on Sunday nearly stormed off the ABC News set when he was asked if he'd like to see Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., join the Senate.
"Right now, we have, as I said, just a whole lot of people in the Congress. OK, Jonathan, thanks," Sanders said when interviewer Jonathan Karl asked the question.
Sanders then abruptly stood up and bolted off camera, clearly agitated by the question.
"Wait, I got one more — I got one more," Karl pleaded with Sanders. "This is an important question."
"No, you wanna do nonsense, do nonsense," Sanders shot back. "I don't want to talk about inside-the-Beltway stuff. I got 32,000 people [at my rallies]."
Ocasio-Cortez's future has been the subject of speculation, as she and Sanders have drawn massive crowds in swing districts.
More than 30,000 people attended a "Fighting Oligarchy" rally in Denver on Saturday held by Sanders and Ocasio-Cortez.
When asked by Karl whether he would run for president again, Sanders replied: "Right now, I'm Vermont's senator. That's what I do. And I'm very happy to do it. I am 83 years of age, and I'm tired."
