Billionaire hedge fund manager Bill Ackman, whose advocacy against Harvard President Claudine Gay helped lead to her resignation over antisemitism and plagiarism claims, has ripped into the Biden administration following a drone attack Saturday in Jordan that killed three U.S. soldiers and wounded at least 40 others.
"Our enemies perceive weak American leadership, which has allowed them to attack us with impunity at a grave cost to our servicemen," Ackman posted Sunday on X. "Imagine what the world will look like and how dangerous it will be if we walk away from @Ukraine after committing to provide our total support to defeat Russia.
"We arrived at a place where our enemies do not fear us. We are not respected, and the world is a much more dangerous place as a result. We need strength and leadership in the White House. The idea that @POTUS Biden should continue for another term is dangerous and absurd."
Ackman, a Harvard alum, is backing Biden's opponent in the Democrat presidential primary, Rep. Dean Phillips of Minnesota, reportedly donating $1 million to a political action committee supporting Phillips.
Ackman called for the resignations of Gay and the presidents of the University of Pennsylvania (Liz Magill) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Sally Kornbluth) after their controversial congressional testimony in December. During their testimony, when asked if calling for the genocide of Jews violated their schools' codes of conduct, each replied, "It depends on the context." Magill resigned shortly after her testimony, and Gay resigned earlier this month.
