Former President Donald Trump continues to grow his lead in the Republican presidential primary race in New Hampshire, according to the latest Suffolk University/NBC10 Boston/Boston Globe tracking poll.
Trump received 52% support in poll results released Friday morning, NBC10 Boston reported. That’s 2 percentage points higher than the former president polled in the first two days of the daily survey.
Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley (35%) trails Trump by 17 percentage points in the state, which will hold its GOP primary on Tuesday.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, whose campaign is focused more on the Feb. 24 South Carolina primary, remains a distant third at 6% support.
Another 1% of New Hampshire respondents said they would vote for someone else, 4% were undecided and 1% refused to answer.
Also, more than 87% said they either are "not at all likely" or "not very likely" to change their minds, up 2% from Thursday.
Trump solidified his status as the clear front-runner for the GOP presidential nomination by winning Monday’s Iowa caucuses by 30 points.
The latest Suffolk University/NBC10 Boston/Boston Globe survey was conducted Jan. 17-18 among 500 likely Republican primary voters. The margin of error is 4.4%.
When Trump voters were asked whether their vote was more a vote for the former president or against Haley, 93% of said their vote was a vote for Trump and 5% said it was a vote against Haley.
When Haley voters were asked, 54% said it was a vote against Trump and 42% said it was a vote for the former South Carolina governor.
When asked for their second choice, 37% of respondents said they’d choose DeSantis, followed by Trump at 8% and Haley at 7%.
Haley has been endorsed by New Hampshire Republican Gov. Chris Sununu, who in December said the state’s primary was "an absolute win" for the former ambassador.
On Thursday, however, Sununu said Haley’s campaign "always wanted to have a strong second" place, ABC News reported.
