Rep. Clay Higgins, R-La., dialed up the border rhetoric with online remarks that followed the Supreme Court siding with the Biden administration on the removal of barriers along the Texas-Mexico border.

In a post to X, Higgins wrote, "Media: 'Congressman Higgins, the Supreme Court just ruled in favor of the Biden Admin over the State of Texas, saying that the federal government can remove physical barriers at the border put in place by Texas. What are your thoughts?'"

"Me: 'My thoughts are that the feds are staging a civil war, and Texas should stand their ground'" he continued.

With illegal entries into Texas numbering in the hundreds of thousands per month, Gov. Greg Abbott has resorted to physical barriers, including razor wire, to stem the tide of illegal immigrants.

Tensions have boiled over between Abbott and President Joe Biden, and with representatives from the state encouraging federal oversight.

Rep. Joaquin Castro, D-Texas, called on President Biden to "establish sole federal control of the Texas National Guard immediately."

Not to be outdone, Gov. Abbott released his own statement on Wednesday effective accusing the Biden administration of dereliction of duty when it comes to enforcing federal laws.

"The Executive Branch of the United States has a constitutional duty to enforce federal laws protecting States, including immigration laws on the books right now," reads the statement. "President Biden has instructed his agencies to ignore federal statutes that mandate the detention of illegal immigrants."
