Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump continue to be locked in a dead heat for the White House, according to a new CNN poll.
Harris leads Trump 48% to 47% with third party candidates getting 3% of the vote, according to the CNN poll conducted by SSRS.
Among independent voters, Harris leads Trump 45% to 41%, with independent women supporting Harris 51% to 36%, with independent men supporting Trump 47% to 40%.
Trump leads Harris with white men, 58% to 35% and white women 50% to 47%. Among voters younger than 30, Harris leads 55% to 38% and she leads with Black voters, 79% to 16% and Latino voters, 59% to 40%.
Only 2% of voters said they were undecided, while 12% could change their minds.
Since she became the Democrat presidential nominee, Harris' favorability rating has climbed to 46% while Trump's remains at 42%, according to the survey.
A majority of those surveyed said Harris' temperament, 58%, background and life experience, 56%, ability to understand their problems, 52%, skills as leader, 51% and vision for the country, 51%, align with what they want in a president, compared to Trump, who did not get a majority in any of the categories.
A majority of voters, 51% said they see the Trump presidency as a success, while 61% said they see the Joe Biden presidency as a failure.
Voters trust Trump more on the economy, foreign policy and immigration while voters trust Harris more on abortion and reproductive rights, uniting the country and protecting democracy.
About 4 in 10 voters said the economy was the most important issue, followed by immigration and abortion. Harris' supporters are more likely to choose protecting democracy as their most important issue while Trump's supporters are most concerned about the economy, according to the survey.
The poll was conducted online and by telephone from Sept. 19-22, with 2,074 registered voters drawn from a probability-based panel. The poll has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
