Former Trump White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham plans to cross party lines and speak out against her former boss Tuesday night at the Democratic National Convention.

Grisham told NBC News that she and other Republicans will highlight the "extremism" of former President Donald Trump.

"I never thought I'd be speaking at a Democratic convention. But after seeing firsthand who Donald Trump really is, and the threat he poses to our country, I feel very strongly about speaking out," Grisham said.

Grisham started as a press aide during Trump's 2016 campaign before becoming chief of staff for first lady Melania Trump. Grisham said she was "really proud" to be the first staffer to resign after the Jan 6. protests and called the event her "breaking point."

"While I don't agree with Vice President Harris on everything, I am proud to be supporting her because I know she will defend our freedoms and represent our nation with honesty and integrity," Grisham said.

Since 2022, Grisham had done the media rounds to plead her case in hopes of preventing another Trump presidency, stating she and other former staffers would, "formally do some things to try and stop him [Trump] and also, you know, the extremism, that kind of violence and rhetoric that has been talked about and continues to divide our country."
