Former President Donald Trump called on the judge in his civil fraud trial to "terminate" his first ruling after the judge was given false information by "deranged lunatic" New York Attorney General Letitia James.
Justice Arthur Engoron ruled last week that Trump defrauded banks and insurers for years as Trump built his real estate empire.
Some experts, though, said Engoron was "utterly delusional to think that property [Mar-a-Lago] is only worth $18 million," the New York Post reported.
Engoron's ruling came before the $250 million civil lawsuit, which began Monday, being brought by James against Trump, his adult sons, and the Trump Organization.
Trump posted Tuesday morning on Truth Social: "Now that it has been agreed in Court that Mar-a-Lago is WORTH 50 to 100 times the Value the Racist & Incompetent Attorney General of New York State, Letitia 'Peekaboo' James, ascribed to it (18 Million Dollars), & likewise other assets that were valued crazily low by this 'Monster' that has allowed Violent Crime in New York to reach EPIDEMIC levels, and dangerous illegal migrants to roam free all over our State, we hope the Judge will TERMINATE his first ruling of fraud in that he was given false and ridiculous information by the Trump Deranged Lunatic, A.G. James.
"In actuality, I am WORTH FAR MORE than the numbers put down on the Financial Statements, not less. In addition, there is a far reaching and professionally drawn Disclaimer Clause boldly stated on the FIRST PAGE OF THE DOCUMENT. This entire case should be thrown out and dismissed. The A.G. should be reprimanded and sanctioned for bringing this case with its FAKE LOW VALUES, in order to make me look bad. Election Interference!"
Trump attended the trial's first day, in a Manhattan courtroom.
When Engoron suggested many of the allegations against Trump might be beyond the statute of limitations, Trump hailed the remarks as a most promising sign.
Trump denies wrongdoing and voluntarily attended a trial that he called a "sham," a "scam," a waste of the state's time and "a continuation of the single greatest witch hunt of all time." Trump, currently the Republican front-runner in the 2024 presidential race, reiterated claims that James, a Democrat, is trying to thwart his bid to return to the White House.
"What we have here is an attempt to hurt me in an election," Trump said outside court, adding, "I don't think the people of this country are going to stand for it."
