The House of Representatives on Friday passed a law banning the prohibition of hydraulic fracturing.
The House approved the Protecting American Energy Production Act 226 to 188, with 16 Democrats joining Republicans in passing the bill.
The bill prohibits a president from declaring a moratorium on the use of hydraulic fracturing to help secure the production of oil and gas on state and private land. It was sponsored by Rep. August Pfluger, R-Texas.
"When President Biden took office, his administration took a 'whole of government' approach to wage war on American energy production, pandering to woke environmental extremists and crippling this thriving industry," Pfluger wrote on X. "My legislation that passed today is a necessary first step in reversing Biden's war on energy by preventing the federal government from banning the use of hydraulic fracturing.
"House Republicans are working to end the war on American energy! I am blessed to represent America's most prolific oil and gas producing region and am committed to unleashing energy in the Permian Basin this Congress."
Democrats who supported the bill include Reps. Sanford Bishop, D-Ga., Jose Luis Correa, D-Calif., Lizzie Fletcher, D-Texas, Julie Johnson, D-Texas, and Gabe Vasquez, D-N.M.
"House Republicans are putting an end to the Democrats' war on American energy," Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La. said. "Today's passage of the Protecting American Energy Production Act helps restore American energy dominance and protects the jobs of hardworking men and women."
