A House committee will hold a hearing next week on law enforcement's response to the pipe bombs that were planted before the riots at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

No one was arrested for the multiple pipe bombs that were left outside of the Democratic National Committee and Republican National Committee headquarters on Jan. 5. The bombs never went off.

The FBI said in January that the $500,000 reward remains in effect for information leading to an arrest.

Barry Loudermilk, R-Ga., Subcommittee on Oversight, Committee on House Administration Chairman, is leading the hearing, titled, "Three Years Later: Assessing the Law Enforcement Response to Multiple Pipe Bombs on January 6, 2021."

Four witnesses are scheduled to testify, including Capitol Hill Assistant Chief of Police for Uniformed Operations, Sean Gallagher.

Not only has an arrest never been made, law enforcement to date still can't agree on the gender of the suspect, who was wearing a mask, whether the bombs were intended to be diversionary, and whether they could have detonated.

Steven D'Antuono, former assistant director in charge of the FBI Washington Field Office (WFO), testified in June that although the bombs were viable, the timer used could not have detonated the bombs due to the elapsed time. D'Antuono also testified that the bombs as a diversionary tactic was a theory and "speculation at best."

"Mr. D'Antuono's testimony raises concerns about the FBI's handling of the pipe bomb investigation, more than 890 days following the placement of the pipe bombs," the Judiciary Committee wrote on June 14, 2023.
