Rep. Jamaal Bowman, D-Fla., a member of the House Progressive Caucus, reportedly trashed fellow Floridian GOP Rep. Byron Donalds during a hate-fueled rant about alleged Republican Party racism — declaring "every brotha ain't a brotha."
In remarks to reporters just off the floor of the House Monday night, Bowman went off on the GOP, alleging the party is filled with hate and "white supremacy," The Floridian reported.
Pressed if Bowman believed Donalds — both of them Black men — was racist, the progressive lawmaker suggested Donalds wasn't the right kind of Black man, The Floridian reported.
"So you are saying that the Republican Party, as a whole, is racist, including Byron Donalds, one of your colleagues?" The Floridian reporter asked.
Bowman responded, "Yeah. I mean, you know, every brotha ain't a brotha, you know, I'm saying and so, you know, that's just the way that goes," the news outlet reported.
During the tirade, Bowman suggested Republicans were looking for a token Black man, The Floridian reported.
"They're starving for Black people to be a part of their party to give them cover to show that they're not racist," Bowman said, the news outlet reported. "But look at their policies. Look at their rhetoric. Look at this far-right Supreme Court. Look at their history."
Donalds was unflustered by his fellow lawmaker's racial slur, The Floridian reported, adding the lawmaker is considered to be one of former President Donald Trump's potential vice presidential picks.
"That stuff is stupid," Donalds told The Floridian. "That's a lie, not even close. My Black heart is just fine."
