The GOP-led House Committee on Oversight and Accountability has accused the Treasury Department of stonewalling its investigation into President Joe Biden's involvement in his family's business practices.

A letter dated Friday from Committee Chair James Comer, R-Ky., to Isabella More, Treasury's Deputy assistant secretary for oversight, accuses the department of hindering "our investigation and operating in bad faith."

Comer requested Moore testify at a hearing March 10 that will "examine the various justifications you have provided the Committee regarding Treasury's failure to produce documents requested of it."

The letter states the committee is seeking to review suspicious activity reports generated by unusual foreign or high-dollar transactions from members of Biden's family.

"These SARs were flagged by financial institutions to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network within the Department of the Treasury," Comer wrote.

Comer wrote the committee notified Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen on Jan. 11 requesting access to the SARs, and that committee Republicans made multiple requests during the 117th Congress for the same.

"During the Committee's dialogue with Treasury, you have made several excuses for Treasury's delay regarding this production," Comer wrote. "Given the amount of time that has passed since our initial request and Treasury's inability to provide a projected timeframe when the SARs will be produced, the Committee believes Treasury may be delaying its production to hinder our investigation and operating in bad faith."

Comer wrote the committee received an email from the Treasury Department on Thursday that read: "Treasury must confer with law enforcement partners, who may identify particular law enforcement conflicts or sensitivities. ... this entire process takes considerable time to complete."

Comer was not deterred.

"Treasury's excuses and delay tactics are unavailing given you have known about our request since last year and previously produced relevant SARs to others," Comer wrote.

House Republicans on the Judiciary Committee are facing similar frustration regarding investigations into Biden's handling of classified documents, as well as the alleged misuse of federal criminal and counterterrorism resources to target concerned parents at school board meetings.
