President Joe Biden hosted a White House barbecue Sunday amid the terrorists' attacks in Israel that killed at least four Americans.
A pool reporter inquired about hearing a band playing from the White House lawn while pro-Palestine protesters picketed outside the gates, according to Daily Mail.com.
A spokesperson said Biden and his wife were "hosting a BBQ for White House Executive Residence staff and their families," DailyMail.com reported.
Critics were quick to condemn the president for hosting the event.
"While Hamas holds Americans hostage, Joe Biden is enjoying a picnic with a live band," Sen. Josh Hawley, R-Mo., posted on social media platform X.
Former Republican National Committee member Steve Guest replied to Hawley's comment.
"As the expression goes, Nero fiddled while Rome burned," Guest wrote.
"Joe Biden is LITERALLY attending a BBQ and listening to a live band play while Israel burns due to Hamas terrorist attacks.
"History repeating itself."
Roughly 700 people have been killed in Israel and nearly 500 have been killed in Gaza since Hamas terrorists began their attack early Saturday.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Israeli officials reported that American citizens may have been taken hostage by Hamas.
"At least FOUR Americans are presumed dead in Israel and Joe Biden is too busy having a BBQ party at the White House to care. This guy is truly sick," conservative strategist Joey Mannarino shared on X.
"Given recent events, and certainly with the news of many Americans being held hostage in Gaza, I think I would have canceled the White House BBQ with the live band," former Rep. Scott Taylor, R-Va., posted on X.
"There are American hostages being held captive by Hamas and Joe Biden is currently having a barbecue at the White House," conservative commentator CJ Pearson posted on X.
"The case for impeachment couldn't be more strong."
Israel formally declared war on Sunday.
