One in five Americans believes pop star Taylor Swift is involved in a "covert government effort" to help Joe Biden win reelection this year, according to a Monmouth University survey released Wednesday.
Just 46% of the American public said they heard something about Swift being part of such an effort; 54% said they had not.
"The supposed Taylor Swift PsyOp conspiracy has legs among a decent number of Trump supporters, said Patrick Murray, director of the independent Monmouth University Polling Institute. "Even many who hadn't heard about it before we polled them accept the idea as credible. Welcome to the 2024 election."
Former President Donald Trump on Sunday said there was "no way" Swift would back Biden.
"Joe Biden didn't do anything for Taylor, and never will. There's no way she could endorse Crooked Joe Biden, the worst and most corrupt President in the History of our Country, and be disloyal to the man who made her so much money," Trump wrote on Truth Social.
The poll, conducted Feb. 8-12 among a national random sample of 902 adults, has a margin of error of 4.1 percentage points.
