South Dakota GOP Gov. Kristi Noem said this week that she can't see a "path to victory" for any Republican White House candidate other than former President Donald Trump.

Noem, in an interview with KWAT News, said that she's focused on running South Dakota amidst speculation that she could mount her own campaign for president like North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, who announced his candidacy earlier this month.

"Wouldn't that be interesting? If there was South and North Dakota governors running for president? But no, right now I am so focused on South Dakota," Noem said.

"Doug is a great guy and it's funny — he was texting me and asking me to support him and we were kind of going back and forth a little bit and he said, 'Remember, we have protected you from Canada for 137 years.' And I said 'that is true. You have been good protectors, but we still have a better football team.' But Doug's working hard. He might do well down in Iowa. Iowa's a farm state and he's investing a ton of money into this race."

She went on to say that she would not make an endorsement in the race.

"President Trump is in the race, and right now I don't see a path to victory for anybody else with him in the race and the situation as it sits today," the governor said. "But I think people should saddle up — it could be a roller coaster of a presidential race."
