Voters favor Republicans on issues of the economy, crime, and border security, but back Democrats on abortion and healthcare issues, a new poll shows.

The NBC News survey released Monday covered 12 issues.

Here’s how the parties were viewed on those subjects:

•Border security:  56% favor GOP and 20% favor Democrats
•Economy: 47% GOP, 28% Democrats
•Immigration: 46% GOP, 29% Democrats
•Crime: 45% GOP, 22% Democrats
•Protecting rights: 44% GOP, 35% Democrats
•Cost of living: 43% GOP, 29% for Democrats
•Protecting democracy: 33% GOP, 40% Democrats
•Bringing the country together: 33% GOP, 27% Democrats
•Getting things done: 32% GOP, 26% Democrats
•Education: 29% GOP, 40% Democrats
•Abortion: 25% GOP, 47% Democrats
•Healthcare: 24% GOP, 44% Democrats

"There are essentially two campaigns in America right now," Republican NBC pollster Bill McInturff told the news outlet. "There is a campaign about the economy, cost of living, crime, and border security, and Republicans are winning this campaign.

"But there is a second campaign on abortion, democracy, and climate change, and Democrats are winning that campaign."

The website FiveThirtyEight's 2022 election forecast currently shows Democrats are favorites to win the Senate while Republicans are predicted to take over the House.

"While the polls could have another bad year, it’s hard to know right now whether that bias will benefit Democrats or Republicans," FiveThirtyEight’s Nate Silver warned.
