Rep. Mike Waltz, R-Fla., President-elect Donald Trump's pick for national security adviser performed 44 pushups to settle a bet after Navy defeated Army on Saturday in the annual college football rivalry.
“Honoring my bet with my Navy fellow for Army's 31-13 loss. 44 pushups,” Waltz posted on Tuesday on X, along with a video of him and another person performing the pushups.
A graduate of the Virginia Military Institute, Waltz served in the Army for more than 26 years, including the Green Berets. Waltz did multiple tours of duty in Afghanistan, the Middle East and Africa, being awarded four Bronze Stars and achieving the rank of colonel.
Trump and Vice President-elect JD Vance, a former Marine, attended the Army-Navy game in Landover, Maryland, along with several of Trump's Cabinet nominees, including Pete Hegseth, an Army veteran and defense secretary nominee, and Tulsi Gabbard, an Army veteran and pick for director of national intelligence.
Navy's victory ended Army's two-game winning streak in the rivalry. The Midshipmen lead the overall series 63-55-7.
Waltz has represented Florida's 6th Congressional District, in the eastern part of the state, since 2019.
