Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley is going after President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump in a series of ads that portray them as "grumpy old men" in a nod to a 1993 comedy movie about two cranky old rivals.
The ad series will start Wednesday, when the campaign will unveil its online videos, digital ads, and voter emails showing how Haley, 52, argues that Biden, 81, and Trump, 77, are similar, The New York Times reported.
"Nearly 50 percent of Republicans and 70 percent of Americans don't want to watch grumpy old men stumble across America when our country is on the brink and the world is on fire," Olivia Perez-Cubas, a spokeswoman for the Haley campaign, said in a statement.
"Sadly, this version of grumpy old men offers no comic relief — just chaos, confusion, and a bad sense of déjà vu for the American people."
The episodes feature titles such as "Basement Buddies, "Profligate Pols," and "Stumbling Seniors."
Newsmax reached out to the Trump campaign for comment, and has attempted to reach the Biden campaign.
Haley launched attacks on Trump and Biden after the Iowa caucuses, saying that their era of politics is out of date and does not meet the country's current needs.
It comes as Haley is fighting to stay in the race entering the Feb. 24 South Carolina primary. Haley is a state native and served as governor there, but polls show Trump leading there by double-digit numbers.
Nearly all of South Carolina's top Republican politicians, including Sens. Tim Scott and Lindsey Graham, have endorsed Trump.
Haley, who served as United Nations ambassador under Trump, said she is a "new generational leader" for the GOP and has called for candidates over the age of 75 to go through mental competency tests.
