Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth taunted U.S. District Judge Ana Reyes for blocking the Trump administration's decision to ban transgender people from the military.
The taunt included an offhanded gender reference.
Hegseth posted, "Since "Judge" Reyes is now a top military planner, she/they can report to Fort Benning at 0600 to instruct our Army Rangers on how to execute High Value Target Raids."
Hegseth added that he could suggest additional military work for the judge.
"After that, Commander Reyes can dispatch to Fort Bragg to train our Green Berets on counterinsurgency warfare," he wrote.
When Judge Reyes handed down the original ruling on the military transgender case, Hegseth posted, "We are appealing this decision, and we will win."
The Feb. 26 memorandum from the Pentagon to military commanders said, "The medical, surgical, and mental health constraints on individuals who have a current diagnosis or history of, or exhibit symptoms consistent with, gender dysphoria are incompatible with the high mental and physical standards necessary for military service."
The ban on transgender military service was challenged by several active-duty U.S. military personnel. The Trump administration's appeal of the judge's ruling in the case has not been decided.
