Newsmax announced Wednesday that former Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Pa., has renewed his agreement to serve as the network's senior political analyst through a multiyear deal.
"I've been on all the major news networks, and I am impressed how Newsmax has a become a first-rate news organization with an extremely influential reach across the nation," Santorum said. "I am glad to renew and look forward to my role over the coming years here."
Santorum, a conservative stalwart who served two terms in the U.S. Senate from 1995 to 2007 and who also sought the 2012 Republican presidential nomination, initially joined the network in 2021 from CNN, where was a senior political commentator.
"Rick Santorum has brought an honest, incisive, and experienced voice to Newsmax, helping our viewers better understand the shifts in American politics over the past few years, and we are looking forward to his insight as the Trump administration gets underway," Newsmax CEO Chris Ruddy said.
From 2001 to 2007, Santorum was chair of the Senate Republican Conference, the third-ranking member of the GOP's Senate leadership. During his run for president in 2012, he won 11 states in the Republican primaries, including the Iowa caucus. He also represented Pennsylvania's 18th Congressional District from 1991 to 1995.
Santorum graduated from Penn State University, holds an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh and a law degree from the Dickinson Law School in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. He is also a New York Times bestselling author, including "Blue Collar Conservatives: Recommitting to an America That Works," a book that has been touted as helping to shape modern Republican politics.
