Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., said this week that whistleblowers contacted his office to "allege that the FBI did not begin to examine the contents of Hunter Biden's laptop until after the 2020 presidential election."

Johnson wrote in a letter to Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz, which was obtained by the Washington Examiner, that "Whistleblowers have recently contacted my office to share serious concerns about the FBI's handling of Hunter Biden's laptop."

Johnson added that the whistleblowers "allege that the FBI did not begin to examine the contents of Hunter Biden's laptop until after the 2020 presidential election — potentially a year after the FBI obtained the laptop in Dec. 2019."

"It is clear to me based on numerous credible whistleblower disclosures that the FBI cannot be trusted with the handling of Hunter Biden’s laptop. I call on you to immediately investigate the FBI's handling of Hunter Biden's laptop and begin by obtaining the history of the investigative actions taken by the FBI on Hunter Biden's laptop," Johnson continued.

President Joe Biden previously dismissed the allegations against his son and said before his inauguration that "my Justice Department will be totally on its own, making its judgments about how they should proceed."
