South Korea's industry minister requested exemptions from reciprocal and item-specific U.S. tariffs during trade talks with the United States, Seoul's Finance Ministry said on Friday.
Finance Minister Choi Sang-mok and Industry Minister Ahn Duk-geun met with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Trade Representative Jamieson Greer in Washington, D.C., on Thursday.
Ahn proposed plans on balanced bilateral trade, Korea's enhancement of energy security and the restructure of the U.S. shipbuilding industry.
