A visit on Aug. 1 by a Chinese submarine to Vladivostok, headquarters of Russia's Pacific Fleet, marked the latest phase of cooperation between the navies of China and Russia.
The two allies have grown closer in recent years in the face of pressure from the U.S. and its allies. Chinese state media said in May during President Xi Jinping's meeting in Moscow with President Vladimir Putin that the two leaders were "further deepening China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era."
