Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has failed the American people and his duty to protect the nation's borders, which is why the House is holding an impeachment hearing against him, Rep. Carlos Gimenez, R-Fla., said Wednesday on Newsmax.
Giminez said on "Wake Up America" that when the rate of release into the U.S. for illegal migrants apprehended at the southern border is above 85%, which Mayorkas concedes, that shows a violation of the law.
Gimenez, a member of the House Homeland Security Committee, said the "law clearly states that parole is done on a case-by case basis, it is not on a mass basis, so when 85% are being paroled into the United States ... that shows he is completely violating the law and the intent of Congress."
Gimenez added that the public should "never listen to what the Biden administration tells you, watch what they are doing."
"Mayorkas has completely failed the American people, completely failed in his duty, has violated the law and is also putting America and American citizens at risk, that is why we are having his impeachment hearing and why in the end we will probably impeach him," Gimenez said.
Gimenez said that if Mayorkas is impeached, he believed that it would also boost the chance of President Joe Biden also being impeached.
Gimenez noted that the Biden administration is responsible for this crisis by ignoring border agents and local communities.
