Sen. Ashley Moody, R-Fla., told Newsmax on Wednesday that it didn't surprise her that Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., decided to vote with Senate Republicans to confirm Pam Bondi as the Trump administration's attorney general.

"Pam Bondi has an incredible record of working on issues that matter to Americans, to protect this country, to protect its people, to protect their rights, and that really should matter to more than just Republicans," Moody said on "Wake Up America." "We are in it for this nation, to get wins for our nation. That did not surprise me. I'm so excited for my longtime friend and certainly my predecessor as Florida's attorney general, Pam Bondi. You will see, she will be one of the strongest, most disciplined, most focused attorneys general we've had."

The Senate confirmed Bondi on Tuesday night in a 54-46 vote, with Fetterman being the only Democrat to support her nomination.

Moody said that Bondi began her career "working hand in hand with law enforcement" as a prosecutor "going after bad guys," adding that she "still keeps in touch with victims."

"She's had an inspiring career of protecting others, standing up for victims, protecting our most vulnerable, and I think the American people are going to see that in this new role," Moody said. "It truly is another win for President Trump as he embarks on reversing course on so many dangerous policies and practices that we've seen in some of our agencies."

Wednesday is Bondi's first day on the job in her new role at the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Moody predicted that she's going to start out by ensuring that her team is rowing together towards the same goal.

"My expectation is she's going to meet with her leadership initially, make sure that they're not only on the same page, in terms of mission and right-sizing DOJ, making sure that they're focusing on what DOJ was created to do, overseeing some of these agencies that have gone awry, but I think she's going to make sure that they have the same passion and enthusiasm and work ethic, because, I'm telling you what, she does not let up once she gets started on accomplishing a goal," Moody said. "I saw that in Florida. I know that we will see that here.

"It's so important for any team," she continued. "This is why I think President Trump was smart to pick her. You have to have leaders that have enthusiasm for the mission, that it is contagious, that people around them feel it, that they believe that they're working based on their principles and toward a unified goal. She's going to bring that to this team and not just DOJ, but the agencies underneath."
