Rep. Bill Huizenga, R-Mich., told Newsmax that an unorthodox coalition of voters in Michigan is a "recipe for success" in delivering his home state for former President Donald Trump in Tuesday's presidential election.

"On the Republican side, you've got some traditional Republicans, but also some very nontraditional Republicans," Huizenga said during an appearance on "National Report."

"Last night [at his campaign rally], Donald Trump pulled up the mayor of Dearborn Heights, who is a Muslim Arab American. ... He came up on stage and endorsed, had endorsed a few days ago, but talked about breaking the wall of hesitancy among Arab Americans because he believes that Donald Trump will bring peace to the Middle East."

Huizenga noted that the former president has a "track record" when it comes to the Middle East — a reference to the historic Abraham Accords that were negotiated by Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner.

"But then he also pulled up on stage the guy who heads up autoworkers for Trump, UAW [United Auto Workers] union members, and I can tell you, my mom's side of the family is a good Irish Catholic family from Flint and I've got UAW retiree cousins who are telling me, 'Are you taking care of my president?'" he said. "I can tell you this, that was not the case a cycle or two ago, that is for sure."

The Michigan congressman said he was surprised to see the former mayor of Detroit, Kwame Kilpatrick, and veteran sportscaster Sage Steele, in the arena at Trump's final campaign rally in Michigan.

"You see this interesting coalition of independent-minded and independent-thinking African American leaders who are saying, 'You know what, maybe the Democrats haven't been doing for our community what they claimed that they were going to do for us and maybe it's time to look for an alternative,'" Huizenga said.

"And I think that's the key to success here in Michigan — those union households, the African American households and then you look at if there's truly Arab American votes coming this way in any significant numbers. That's a recipe for success."
