9/11 Justice President Brett Eagleson, who lost his father in the terror attacks 24 years ago, told Newsmax on Thursday that the 9/11 families' effort to hold Saudi Arabia accountable for the loss of their loved ones has been met with "deafening" silence from the Trump White House.

"We vowed to never forget and, unfortunately, there is an entire element within our government who seems to have forgotten," Eagleson said on Newsmax's "National Report." "We learned just two weeks ago that a judge in our lawsuit against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has greenlighted our path to hold the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia accountable. And you know what? The silence out of the White House has been deafening. We are urging President [Donald] Trump to stand with these families.

"You're seeing them on the screen right now," he said, referencing Newsmax's live coverage of the New York memorial ceremony. "These families are grieving. We've been through a 24-year nightmare. We've been screwed over by our own FBI, who buried the connections on day two, back to 9/11. President Trump campaigned on putting America first. He campaigned on transparency. This issue is ripe for him to take it, grab it by the horns, and slam it home. Expose all those people who have done this horrific deed to these families. It is unconscionable that we have not heard from the White House about how records relating to Saudi Arabia were buried within two weeks of 9/11."

Asked about the experience of founding his organization, which seeks to hold the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia responsible for the 9/11 attacks, Eagleson said "it would have been a whole hell of a lot easier if we had a government that stood behind our backs and were there for us."

"If our government just had an iota, a shred, of the courage and decency that these families have had, we wouldn't have had to fight this 24-year odyssey," he said. "We need this national nightmare to end. We've come on TV, and we've poured our hearts out for 24 years. This time it's different. Now we're upset. We're angry. We're at the tipping point. Why does our country put us through this? I am the most patriotic person. I fly an American flag every day at my house. I'm so proud of my country. I love my country, but I wish my government had our backs."

The families have long argued that Saudi officials provided support to some of the 9/11 attackers, but Saudi Arabia has consistently denied involvement. While the 9/11 Commission found no definitive evidence that the Saudi government or senior-level officials knowingly supported the conspiracy, lingering questions have remained about the role of lower-level operatives.
