The holiday season is about setting aside differences and coming together, Jackson Lahmeyer, the pastor at Sheridan Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma, told Newsmax on Wednesday.

Sharing with "American Agenda" his Christmas message, Lahmeyer said that while "love, joy, and peace" are all part of the holiday, this Christmas season has been fraught with division. But setting aside differences is what the holiday is all about, he said.

"You know, Americans in particular are excited about the future. Our best days are ahead of us, not behind us," Lahmeyer said.

"And, you know, this is an opportunity where we get to come together. Our nation has been so divided. You know this."

He stressed the need to come together.

"The division has been so high, and now is the time that we can come together — even Jews and Christians. And we have so much more in common than we do that separates us," he said.

"And so unity is going to be the key to making America great again. And I think we have a very good start."
