David Aaronson, deputy director for Israel at the Abraham Accords Peace Institute, told Newsmax on Tuesday that President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris contributed to destabilizing the Middle East before the attack on Israel by Hamas in October.

Aaronson, speaking with "Newsline" a few days after six hostages, including one American, were killed in Gaza, said that leaders in the U.S. and Israel in the past four years have appeared weak, which led Israel's enemies exploited.

Aaronson also noted a lack of progress since the signing of the Abraham Accords, the bilateral agreements between Israel and several neighboring countries meant to normalize relations, in 2020.

"I think if you look at what the Middle East looked like four years ago, we had the Abraham Accords, we had a very stable region," Aaronson said. "Unfortunately, when weakness is projected by any party, the other side tends to take advantage."

He added: "I'm not just talking about the United States, I'm talking about Israel."

According to Aaronson, "We had a lot of infighting here about domestic politics. And I think at the end of the day, we need to understand that … the enemy is Hamas, the enemy is Iran, and we need to show as much strength and unity, strength and unity as possible in order to defeat the enemy."
