Rep. Andy Harris, R-Md., told Newsmax on Monday that the House could vote on the debt ceiling before President-elect Donald Trump takes the oath of office on Jan. 20.

"We may be able to do that again to vote on the debt ceiling if we can get the first reconciliation package off the ground very quickly; we could get a vote in the House on that reconciliation package before President Trump raises his right hand on Jan. 20," Harris told "The Chris Salcedo Show."

On Sunday, Trump posted to Truth Social, stating that the "Democrats must be forced to take a vote" on the debt ceiling.
