Former President Donald Trump told Newsmax on Sunday that he wants to choose a running mate who would make a great president.
"The biggest quality and the most important quality by far is how they would they do as president, because that is the purpose, 95% of it, I would think. So that would be No. 1," Trump said. "You really want to make sure that you pick somebody who, should it be necessary, and you hope it isn't, would make a great president."
Trump added that "politically, you would want somebody that is compatible."
Trump also said that another important quality for a choice in a vice president is you "want somebody who you get along with."
Trump is currently the clear front-runner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.
