Georgia Republicans are determined to vote "come hurricane or high water," and the state needs former President Donald Trump like he needs it, Rep. Buddy Carter, R-Ga., said Tuesday.
"We're going to vote and we're determined," Carter told Newsmax's "Wake Up America." "I can assure you, that's why you've seen such a turnout in the early voting because people know and we've learned our lessons over the years."
Typically, Republicans prefer waiting until Election Day, but "you may have inclement weather," Carter said. "There may be something personal [that] comes up. So we've been encouraging people everyone to get out and vote and vote now, and they have done it."
This year has been a tough one for Georgia, he added, considering the hit it took from Hurricane Helene that left a lot of devastation in the southern part of the state.
"But we're excited because we know that Georgia needs Donald Trump and Donald Trump needs Georgia," Carter said.
People in the state are especially concerned about border security after the murder of nursing student Laken Riley, he added.
"She was going to be a nurse," Carter said. "She was going to be a great part of our community, of our society, and help people. And yet she was killed by an illegal alien that crossed that border while Kamala Harris was the border czar."
But with Trump, "we had low inflation," he said. "We were respected on the world stage. Our border was secure, and crime in our cities was down. That's what people in Georgia want and that's what people in Georgia are going to vote for today."
