Rep. Jake LaTurner, R-Kan., told Newsmax on Wednesday that Hunter Biden's appearance in Congress earlier that day during a House Oversight Committee hearing was just "one more political stunt."

Biden's appearance during the hearing sparked outrage among Republicans on the panel, several of whom criticized him for attending and for refusing to comply with a subpoena to testify before House Republicans behind closed doors.

Asked on "Newsline" about Biden's appearance on Wednesday, LaTurner said: "My reaction was disgust because it's just one more political stunt like we've seen from Hunter Biden in the past."

LaTurner continued: "Instead of complying with a lawful subpoena to appear before the Oversight Committee members in a deposition setting, he held a press conference on the Senate side. This is one more political stunt and, sadly, that's what this administration has come to. Instead of abiding by the law, instead of understanding that the laws of this country should apply equally to everyone, they have stalled, they have delayed, they have tried to obstruct.

"It's been a lot of very bad theater by my colleagues on the other side of the aisle. What our job is today is to hold Hunter Biden in contempt of Congress and he absolutely deserves to have this happen because he did not comply with the law like any of your viewers would be expected to do."
