House Judiciary Chair Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, told Newsmax on Tuesday that impeachment was the correct price to pay for Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, given he "deliberately and willfully" was complicit in opening the southern border.
Jordan decried the "magnitude" of the crisis at the border at the hands of Mayorkas and President Joe Biden.
"We're on pace to get to 12 million illegal migrants coming into the country in the Biden presidency," Jordan told "Eric Bolling The Balance." "The magnitude of this problem is just unbelievable.
"I tell folks that's the equivalent, 12 million is the equivalent, of the populace of the entire state of Ohio. And we're the seventh largest state," Jordan told Bolling. "That's the magnitude of this problem, and it was created, again, intentionally, deliberately, willfully when they chose on Day 1 to say no more Remain in Mexico, no more building the wall, and when you get here, you will be released. And that's why we got this problem."
Mayorkas exacerbated the problem by not being straight with Congress, Jordan said.
"And then Mayorkas has come in front of the Congress … and hasn't been square with the Congress and therefore the American people in things that he's asserted there," Jordan added.
"The fact is we won that vote today. We carried that vote. And now you're gonna have Mr. Mayorkas, who has actually been impeached by the House, those articles go to the Senate, and we'll see what the what the Senate does," he said.
