Former U.S. Attorney Joe diGenova told Newsmax that he was "delighted" to hear that some victims of the Jeffrey Epstein sex scandal will get a chance to tell their stories in public.
DiGenova told "The Chris Salcedo Show" on Tuesday that "If these are really victims, I'm delighted that they're getting a chance to speak."
The victims are set to make a public appearance on the steps of the Capitol in Washington. Reps. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., and Ro Khanna, D-Calif., scheduled the event to allow the victims and accusers of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell the opportunity to share their stories.
Rep. Massie posted on Monday that "I pray @SpeakerJohnson will listen to the pleas of these victims for justice and quit trying to block a vote on our legislation to release the Epstein files."
House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., said as late as Friday that there "probably will be a vote of some sense" on a call for the Trump administration to release case files covering the case of convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
DiGenova said the victims deserve a public audience. "I don't know what they're gonna say. In fact, nobody does, but I think everyone should have a chance to hear it. I don't think it's gonna move any needles anywhere, and I'm not quite sure what the significance of it will be, but as far as I'm concerned, let them all speak."
The case continues to be shrouded from full public disclosure of information. But the House continues to work on the issues. The House Oversight Committee subpoenaed Epstein's estate last week as House members try to sort out who was linked to the disgraced financier. They’re also looking at whether his case was mishandled by prosecutors.
DiGenova said all the issues aside, let the victims talk. "I think they have every right in the world to speak."
