Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., criticized the mainstream media on Monday, claiming Republicans do not receive fair coverage, particularly on sensitive issues like abortion and women's rights.
Mace voiced concerns over media bias against Republicans in an interview Monday on Newsmax's "Rob Schmitt Tonight," claiming that the GOP's stance on women's issues, including the party's "pro-life and pro-women" motto, is often misrepresented in mainstream media coverage.
"We never get a fair shake in the mainstream media," Mace stated, recognizing the eleventh-hour abortion coverage by CBS's "60 Minutes."
The episode, which aired Sunday, examined the effects of Texas abortion laws following the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. The report highlighted Texas doctors' experiences with the legal complexities and challenges to women's health posed by strict abortion regulations, CBS News reported.
Mace was aware of the episode's timing, airing one day before the presidential election, as favoring Democrats who, according to her, receive consistent support from mainstream media outlets on the topic.
"They [Democrats] are supported by the mainstream media in this regard, this endeavor," she said, suggesting the coverage aims to sway moderate and undecided voters by focusing on reproductive rights, an issue that remains a high priority for many Americans, especially young people and women.
Mace's comments come amid heightened attention to abortion in the election, an issue the Democratic campaign has emphasized to appeal to key voter groups.
