As House Republicans regroup after the failed impeachment of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Rep. Nancy Mace, R-S.C., lashed out against the threat of being primaried, courtesy of the former speaker of House.
"Kevin McCarthy is just a bitter, mean girl on a revenge tour," Mace told Newsmax's "Wake Up America" on Thursday. "He recruited someone to run against me. He's going to fully fund her campaign."
Mace spoke after thrashing what she called McCarthy's "bitter revenge operation."
"Catherine Templeton is nothing more than a puppet in Kevin McCarthy's bitter revenge operation," Mace wrote on X.
Mace was 1 of 8 House Republicans who voted to oust McCarthy back in October of 2023.
"If you've watched, just her philosophy and the flip-flopping, I don't believe she wins reelection," McCarthy told CNN. "I don't think she'll probably have earned the right to get reelected."
Mace has long labeled herself as being an outsider representing a purple district in the low country of South Carolina.
"I am against D.C. I am against the establishment. I didn't come here to take orders from Kevin McCarthy," Mace told Newsmax.
"He's just on this revenge tour and we are his No. 1 target."
Speaking on the Senate border security that was rejected Wednesday, Mace said, "It actually was massive amnesty ,and for every decent provision in the bill on the very next page there was an actual loophole that [made the] 5,000 figure really irrelevant. It lowered the standard for asylum seekers."
