Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley has "no path to the nomination" moving forward, and it is "selfish" for her to remain in the race at a time when the Republican Party needs to put all of its resources toward former President Donald Trump in his upcoming race against President Joe Biden, Rep. Nancy Mace told Newsmax on Wednesday.

"This is Donald Trump's election year," the South Carolina Republican told "Wake Up America." "We won resoundingly and historically, both in Iowa and New Hampshire, and he's crushing it in South Carolina. Depending on where you are in the state of South Carolina, he's running away with it by 30 to 40 points."

Mace said she likes and respects Haley, but said now is the time for her to back away.

"She was a good governor," said Mace. "She's run a good race. She made it to the playoffs, but the playoffs are over, and we need to start the Super Bowl because we have a country to take back from the hands of progressives like Joe Biden."

Meanwhile, Trump is "winning resoundingly everywhere," Mace said, pointing out that Haley is not on the upcoming Nevada ballot.

"I don't see a path for here in any way, shape, or form, and I respect her, but we need to take on Joe Biden," she added. "There is just too much at stake. If you look at the border and immigration, endless wars overseas, the proxy war with Iran, our nation's national security and all these economic issues, spending inflation, etcetera, [Trump is] the guy that can save America, and that's who Americans want."

Mace has also spoken out against Trump in the past, particularly after the Jan. 6, 2021, protests at the Capitol, but she said the race for the presidency is "greater than me."

"Politics is a blood sport," she said. "I've been very vocal when I don't see eye to eye about someone. But this is greater than me. This is greater than anything in the past with Donald Trump, and I was one of the original folks on his campaign in 2016. I've supported him for a long time. This is about saving our country, and he is the man to do it."

Meanwhile, Biden said during a Tuesday speech that Trump is at fault for the overturning of the Roe v. Wade ruling on abortion, and Mace agreed that it is time for the Republicans to hone their message on the issue.

"If we ignore abortion, we're going to have a lot of losses," she said. "[We] may not be able to flip the Senate, and it will be a struggle for the White House. The one thing that I have heard from Donald Trump, which I haven't heard from anybody else is how to build consensus between folks that are pro-life and pro-choice, and that is a message that we have to carry forward."

Mace said Trump has rejected allowing abortions in the third trimester, and she added that there is "a lot of common ground" on what the policies on abortion should be.

"I expect to carry that message forward," said Mace. "He's talked about it in the primary, and as a woman, as a survivor of rape, as someone who has advocated for women who are victims of rape and girls who are victims of incest… we cannot bury our heads in the sand over abortion. I've led on policy on this issue for women finding that common ground, and [Trump has] been right there in the fight. He's got a good message on it. I think women will listen to it."
