Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, R-N.Y., told Newsmax that on Wednesday she is upset at the continuing resolution congressional leaders released late Tuesday to keep the federal government open until March 14, because Democrats got more items than the majority Republicans for their constituents.
Malliotakis told "Wake Up America" that the "problem begins when you do open up this continuing resolution and then you are giving more things to the Democrats than your own members. So instead of negotiating within our conference to see what can satisfy members to get them a legislative win if it doesn't cost any money, there were all these giveaways to the Democrats, and I think that created a lot of angst and frustration.
"I think there is an overall issue with the [Republican] leadership ... you have to try and give your members some basic legislative wins when you can."
"What does it harm the leadership or anybody in this conference if members are able to put forth a piece of legislation if it has no fiscal impact that would be a win for them back home."
"That for me is what is most frustrating about this process is the Democrats ending just walking away with more legislative wins for their districts and their constituents and those of us who were trying to get last-minute legislative items across the finish line aren't seeing that type of progress."
