President Donald Trump on Wednesday signed the "No Men in Women's Sports" executive order, a move "long overdue," West Virginia Gov. Patrick Morrisey told Newsmax on Thursday.
"President Trump has done something that I think is going to make so many millions of young Americans so happy," Morrisey said on "National Report." "These young female athletes now know that they can have a level playing field and participate in sports.
"... For President Trump to come in and recognize common sense and sanity, I think, is a breath of fresh air to all of the women across America. This is something that's long overdue.
"And the radical nature of what the gender ideology folks are trying to do. This is a way to say, 'Stop, we're not going to keep going anymore.' And it's about sports. It's about locker rooms. It's about changing rooms, and it's about the basic culture. Recognizing that there are two sexes, there are men and there are women."
Trump's executive order gives federal agencies wide latitude to ensure entities that receive federal funding abide by Title IX in alignment with the Trump administration's view, which interprets "sex" as the gender someone was assigned at birth.
