In threatening to arrest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu if he attends a ceremony marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, Poland misses the point of "never again," Israeli special envoy Michal Cotler-Wunsh told Newsmax, Monday.

"This would have been the most important moment to say 'never again' in the 80-year commemoration of the liberation of Auschwitz," Cotler-Wunsh told Newsmax's "Wake Up America." "What we have seen instead is actually that a 'never again is now' moment is completely missed, including in the marking of the 80-year commemoration."

Poland has warned that Netanyahu will be arrested if he visits the country for the 80-year commemoration of the Nazi concentration camp's liberation on Jan. 27, in accordance with an International Criminal Court arrest warrant.

"I just want to say how devastating that actually is for the International Criminal Court and for the understanding of what it was meant to represent, as a court of last resort," Cotler-Wunsh said. "It's just the most recent manifestation of the hijacking and weaponization of international law and its infrastructures — the International Criminal Court included — for the systematic demonization and delegitimization and application of double standards toward the state of Israel, the proverbial Jew among the nations."

"The fact that Israel's prime minister will not be able to land in Poland, for what marks the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, as a result of what we have seen — a tsunami of antisemitism in response to the worst attack of Jews on Oct. 7, 2023," she continued. "In that sense, it is the most Orwellian-inverted reality, an inversion of fact and of law, which not only should trouble Jews around the world as a manifestation of that tsunami of antisemitism or the state of Israel, and certainly not only its prime minister, but all who understand the importance of the International Criminal Court and its collapse by this sort of most recent manifestation."

Cotler-Wunsh said the "most devastating part" is that the 80th anniversary of Auschwitz's liberation is an opportunity for the world to stand with Israel "in response to the worst attack of Jews since the Holocaust," but the nations are not doing so.

"What we have seen [is that] the International Criminal Court is just part of what I call the eighth front that, as I said, hijacked and weaponized international law institutions and their principles in this war for hearts and minds around the world, as have manifested in the tsunami of antisemitism," she added.
