Florida State Sen. Randy Fine told Newsmax Monday if elected to Congress he will work to advance President Donald Trump's agenda.
Fine is running in the Tuesday Republican primary to represent Florida's 6th Congressional District. Fine was endorsed by Trump, who asked him to run to replace Michael Waltz, who is now a national security adviser to Trump.
"When he [Trump] told me he needed me to play some small part in what he needs to get done, I had no choice but to suit up and get ready to go," Fine told "Newsline." "If you're a Republican and you believe in the mission of President Trump, then you ought to send the person that he wants to Congress to fight for him."
Fine said his priorities include illegal immigration, having recently proposed a bill in the state that would allocate $500 million to assist the federal government in getting illegal immigrants out of Florida. He also said he believes it is important to budget correctly.
"You can't have a country that borrows trillions of dollars a year that it doesn't have," Fine said. "That country won't last forever. Getting our budget under control is really important."
He also said it is important for America to stand by our allies and stand against our enemies.
"The president's doing an amazing job of it already," Fine said. "The exact opposite of what happened over the last four years with Joe Biden."
